It is with great pleasure that we announce the return of the Nigeria Emergency Response and Counter-Terrorism Workshop in 2015. Following a hiatus due to the Ebola epidemic in 2014, NERCT will once again be held and will discuss issues such as Boko Haram, Sahel security, intelligence, emergency response and civilian security. The workshops will focus on finding solutions to these issues that will quickly be useful for practitioners and therefore help create a most secure and stable environment.
The events of the last year – Ebola, Boko Haram, Islamist violence in the Sahel, ISIS and political violence among others – are strong reminders of NERCT’s necessity and usefulness, in bringing together decision makers and practitioners to improve Nigeria’s collective security. As these dangers increase, it is essential that we work together to make Nigeria, Africa and the world a safer place for our children to receive an education, for businesses to flourish and to improve the quality of life of all of those around us. As such, NERCT is a modest but important step in that direction.
